OFFICIAL TERMS, RULES, AND CRITERIA
Format :
Two-phase competition: Written assessment training, practical challenge, and presentation Teams of 1, 2-3 students per school
Rules
1. Written Assessment (30%)
Contestant will write about their project innovation test covering mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, and computer science Individual scores combined for team total Open-ended problem-solving questions
2. Practical Challenge (40%)
Teams brieng challenge materials on competition day4 hours to design, build, and test a solution to a sustainability problem Limited materials provided; teams must work within constraints Solution must demonstrate application of multiple STEM principles
3. Presentation (30%)
10-minute presentation of solution to judges and audience, 5-minute Q&A session with judges, All team members must participate in the presentation
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Project Requirements:
Projects must address a real-world problem using STEM principles, Participants can work individually or in teams of 2-3 students, Projects training take place in the participants schools, a week to the event oct 11.
Presentation & Showcase Oct 14
All contestants will be given 5-minutes, live in front of all the audience. will compete for the stem innovation challenge championship. They will demonstrate: Problem statement Solution approach Working prototype/model Results and impact.
Location: venue Sam shonibare event centre Surulere.
Format: 10-minute live comtest, 5-minute Q&A with judges
Evaluation Criteria
Projects will be judged on:
1. Scientific Understanding (25%), Correct application of STEM principle Depth of subject knowledge
2. Innovation & Creativity (25%), Originality of approach Creative problem-solving
3. Execution & Functionality (30%) , Quality of prototype/model Effectiveness of solution Technical skill demonstrated
4. Presentation & Communication (20%)
Clarity of explanation Professional presentation
