About IDOTGC
International Day of the Girl Child (IDOTGC) school girls competition is celebrated annually on October 11th. This day recognizes and promotes girls’ rights, empowerment, and gender equality around the world. It aims to address the challenges and issues faced by girls globally, such as access to education, teenage pregnancy, healthcare, safety, and equal opportunities.
The day highlights educating, discovering, and empowering talented girls in the areas of cooking, debate, beauty pageants, and public speaking, nurturing them with social and professional skills to become innovative professionals. Spotlighting the importance of investing in girls’ education, health, and well-being, ensuring they can reach their full potential and contribute to society. It also emphasizes the need to end discrimination, violence, and harmful practices that affect girls’ lives.

This competition goes beyond winning prizes — it is a powerful platform that nurtures future female leaders and promotes equal opportunities for girls across Nigeria and beyond.

How to Get Involved
For Students / Contestants
Girls between the age of 9–16 can sign up through their schools or guardians. Registration forms will be available online and through selected partner schools.
For Sponsors and Partners
Organizations and brands can collaborate with us by sponsoring different contest categories, prizes, educational grants, or donating resources to support the event.
For Volunteers
We also welcome volunteers who wish to support event logistics, mentorship, media coverage, social media management, moderation, and more.
